I started to write this entire post in Spanish to celebrate my one week anniversary of taking classes here in Antigua but I figured that would be kinda corny. Corniness doesn’t usually stop me, but I will spare you all this one time.
Outside of teaching in Tanzania four times a day and five days a week, I haven’t really been on a schedule or had any type of routine since before I quit my job in February. I’ve branded my attention span with the name “SesameSpan”. I thought this best described my need to change my routine every 60 seconds and my tendency to drift off into space if something doesn’t quite grab and keep my attention. My classes are from 8-12, Monday through Friday and I can feel myself veering toward the twilight zone right around 9:30.
My teacher, Miriam, does her very best to keep me entertained. She finds my Spanglish habit hilarious and gives me the “Seriously? “look every time I slip up and answer her in English. Ahhhhh… I feel right at home here.
“Operation Habla Espanol Sola” to be continued……….
