OMG. I didn’t think this day would ever come. Let me stop acting like that. While the more than a month spent in Tanzania was less than I had hoped it would be so many great things came out of me being here.
In honor of my departure I have compiled a list of the things that I will/will not miss. Like to hear it? Here it goes.
Things I will miss about Tanzania
- Cute cafe in Moshi with the banging salads – Friendly spot..kinda like Cheers where everybody knows your name
- Waking up to a view of Mt. Kilimanjaro each morning – need I say more?
- ANIMALS – The wild ones. Not the roaches that were in my hotel room last night
Things I will NOT miss about Tanzania
- Nose picking in public – I have never been able to figure out why this is socially excepted. It’s disgusting. EVERYONE picks their nose. Not like a sneak pick but a two fingered digging for gold kind of pick smack dab in the middle of a conversation. SO GROSS!
- Horrible service – Two and a half hours to get your meal, people throwing money at you instead of placing it in your hand or on the counter, super inflated tourist prices for USED clothes and anything else you’d like to buy, kilimanjaro guides who suck at their job…etc
- Crowded dala dala’s – I’m pretty sure 63 people packed in a small minivan is a safety hazard but whatever
- Hearing the word Mzungu – Hearing the word Mzungu, meaning white person, used to make me cringe. It’s kind of like when you here Nigger elsewhere in the world. It’s just another way to make people feel like they aren’t included or accepted.
- This Black American Business – No need to go in to detail.. I’m over it
- Money hungry, stalking, non-profit workers – I didn’t mention to you all that the Project Coordinator from the orphanage had somehow discovered my blog and was leaving wild and hurtful comments that were obviously not approved, marked as spam, and DELETED…BOOP! I’m over that whole incident and don’t ever again want to talk about it as long as I live. I really despise people who use their religion or other titles to cover up the fact that they are in the wrong or at fault. It’s all good though. I’ve already peed on that cat and left him for dead….NEXT!
Ok.. I can’t think of anything else. Overall, my time here was ok. I met some lovely people and some not so lovely ones. But I appreciate the experience and the opportunity and don’t at all take it for granted. I’d have to put Tanzania down there with Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and you all know how much I hated that place.
My final parting gift was 15 mosquito bites last night to include 3 on my face. 😐 In the famous words of Wanda from In Living Color…. “I am red-to-go!”
Peace Tanzania… on to my next adventure.
Gurl, you did gr8!!!!
I would have gone off on my guide and given up way sooner just due to lack of staying power
If it took injury and illness to slow you…you rock!

Trust me…I really thought about telling him off but I can’t pop off at the mouth like that when I am by myself in a place where it is easy for someone to dump a body. Besides I think the tipless end to his climb hit him a little harder than I would have with my fist.
Oh, we are looking for you?
Im here in antigua waiting for the internet to act like it has some sense. I will upload new posts tomorrow….. Crossing my fingers
Hahaha i am not the only one who think nose picking in public is sooooo gross…
