The 6 hour tour on yesterday was well worth the $450 bhat or $14.30 I spent on it. Since the Thai people I’ve encountered seem to run on their own time the tour actually lasted more than 7 hours.
The highlight of my tour would have to be meeting a lovely black couple from London who stopped me in my tracks to say hello. The cute brown girl beamed with excitement as she told me I was the first black person she had seen since she’d been here. The young pair were on holiday for ten days and they said they had been enjoying themselves so far. It’s crazy how although you come to a foreign place where you’re convinced that no one who looks like you will be there you see a “familiar” face and you feel like you’ve just been rescued from a deserted island. I’ve seen a few black people during my travels and I do the usual smile and/or head nod. Which is equivalent to “Hey family..I see you!” Well what usually results in a return smile or a hello has also gotten me a couple of eye rolls and a look you usually give someone when you’re about to beat them up. Luckily, these two turned out to be really cool. So much so that I left my contact info behind since they’ll be on the island for a bit.
My yesterday ended with me forcing down enjoying an unusual tasting pizza at a Mexican restaurant where they blasted reggae music and when I tried to order in Spanish nobody knew what the hell I was talking about. 😐
stay away from budda
You look cute and NO you don’t have to take pics with crazy animals. Well you can get a pic but Don’t touch them! : )
lol. Thanks Tai. I think I’m about done with the animals for a few months.
