As you can see I’m quickly making my way around Asia. I arrived in Bali yesterday and the place was packed! I had already read that the taxi ride from the airport to the town that I would be staying in would be $7-10 but when you hear the price in local currency (Indonesian Rupiah), 70,000, it sounds ‘spensive. The drive to my hostel in Seminyak took a good forty minutes or longer with the insane traffic and I don’t think it was that far. Everybody was on the street from pedestrians, to bicycles, motorbikes, cars, and trucks. Driving through the town of Kuta was definitely an experience and I thank the Lord my driver, who was sitting so close to the steering wheel that I thought for sure he puncture a lung with one sharp turn, got me to my hostel safely.
When I arrived at the hostel the cat behind the counter greeted me with a “What’s up”. 😐 I of course replied with a “Hello, how are you” so he knew to calm the “urban” chatter down and address me correctly. He asked me about 10 times if I had a reservation and then asked me to show it to him. I found this ridiculous when they had computers and a printout confirming my reservation sitting on the table. But anyway…the hostel is pretty nice for $11 a night. It has a laidback vibe and is decked out in simple Balinese decor. It actually reminds me a lot of how I decorate my home. Well, minus the statue of the turtle with a penis for a head. :-/
I find the locals that I’ve encountered to be extremely pleasant with the occasional bad apples that just can’t themselves. Instead of “Hakuna Matata” I’ve been getting “Yeah Mon” so I guess I’m Jamaican again. 😐
I also got a mean $5 pedicure today by a gay guy who rubbed my feet like it was a …. OK I won’t go there..my momma reads this blog 😛 . Anyway…the foot massage was very good and I liked it a lot.
The End 😉
very nice!
Jamaican?? Did you have on your Bob Marley shirt?
NO I didn’t. Regular clothes. Random right? I mean I understand why they thought you were Venezuelan when we were in Mexico though..LOL
