Thanks to my Dora the Explorer skills and the map I printed out at the last minute I managed to find my hostel with no problem. I walked there with this british chick who was on my bus from the airport and was headed in the same direction to her hotel. She was reaching the end of 10 months of travel through Indonesia and Malaysia and was apparently celebrating by toking on the joint she lit while we were walking.
When I arrived at the clean and cozy hostel I was greeted with a smile and a cold glass of ice water. After a quick check-in I was shown to my room. The bunk beds are lined up against the walls and have curtains on all sides so you can feel claustrophobic you can have more privacy. There are 3 tiny bathrooms in the place. Two of which have a sink, toilet and a shower that sprays out all over the floor. I know they were trying to save on space but it’s kind of odd to have to pee and the floor is always soak and wet.
There are only three other people staying here at the moment and they aren’t friendly at all to be honest. I smiled and said hello to one girl and she turned her head and just kept on walking by. The only guy here acted like he didn’t speak English when I tried to spark up a conversation with him. Mind you I’ve since heard both of these people talking to each other in plain English 😐
It’s funny to see the contrast between the great reviews of these places online and the reality of it all when you actually show up. Very iteresting indeed. The one thing that was absolutely spot on was the comfort of the beds. OMG..I swear I probably have a slob circle on my pillow because I’ve had the most peaceful rest since I’ve been here. Throw out the fact that I’m probably allergic to either what the pillow is made with or washed in and we’ve got a pretty decent hostel. When I wake up without looking like I’ve been punched in my eyes by Tommy “The Hitman” Hearns I will give this place an A-. But for now I’m giving it a B+.
The accomodations look really neat and clean…vaguely reminds me of my bunk situation while in the Navy, well not really, but I can totally relate to the bunk beds nonetheless
Ok, i just peeped the sign that providing tourist info is ‘free’….soo, is that to mean some hostels charge tourists in the event they are lost and need some info??? lol
Nothing like a good nites rest to make you forget you living like a hermit.
Ahhhhh, comfort at last. Now that is the ticket… or not! Hopefully this is more conducive to you discovering that which you intended. I c mom is posting so she is doing pretty good. LoL ErvSon
